Anne Bogart, Richard Maxwell, Peggy Shaw, et al. Set for Under the Radar

At the Public, Under the Radar will include American Document, a reinvention of Martha Graham's work of the same name, developed by Anne Bogart, Charles Mee, Jr., and the SITI company; a new theater piece based on John Cassavetes' movie Husbands; and Silver Stars, a new song cycle from Seán Millar that features a community chorus of gay men. The festival will also present Chautauqua!, from The National Theater of the United States of America; a new work from the UK-based Clod Ensemble that has been created with performance artist Peggy Shaw; and the Helen Hayes nominated The Word Begins, which is written and performed by Sekou the Misfit and Steve Connell. The Public offerings in Under the Radar will be rounded out by Andrew Dawson's Space Panorama and Versus - In the Jungle of Cities, which comes from Poland's Teatr Nowy.
Productions at partner venues include Chekhov Lizardbrain, the OBIE-award winning play from Philadelphia's Pig Iron Theatre (CSV Cultural Center ); The Devil You Know, a new work from director Ping Chong based on The Devil and Daniel Webster (La MaMa E.T.C.); and Ads, a new play from Richard Maxwell (P.S. 122). Additional productions are Gin and "It", a new piece developed by Reid Farrington inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's Rope (3LD Art & Technology Center ); a multimedia piece based on Haruki Murakami's novel The Windup Bird Chronicle (Ohio Theatre); Philippe Quesne's L'Effet de Serge (3LD Art & Technology Center); Jerk, Dennis Cooper and Gisèle Vienne's exploration of serial killer Dean Corll (P.S. 122), MK Guth's installation piece, This Fable Is Intended For You: A Work-Energy Principle (Arts World Financial Center Winter Garden); Phil Soltanoff's L.A. Party (HERE Arts Center); and Once and For All We're Gonna Tell You Who We Are So Shut Up and Listen, a look at adolescence through the eyes of actual teenagers (New Victory Theatre at the Duke on 42nd Street).
