Marcy Harriell will join the Tony Award-winning musical In the Heights as Vanessa on Tuesday, November 18. She replaces Karen Olivo, who left the production last month to appear in the upcoming Broadway revival of West Side Story.

The show is directed by Thomas Kail, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler. Featuring music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who plays Usnavi, and a book by Quiara Alegría Hudes, In the Heights is about a vibrant and tight-knit community at the top of the island of Manhattan, and focuses on the hopes and dreams of three generations as they struggle to forge an identity in a neighborhood on the brink of transition.

Harriell has previously starred on Broadway in Rent and Lennon. Her other New York stage credits include the City Center Encores! production of Kismet and the Off-Broadway musical Little Fish.

The principal cast also features Andréa Burns, Janet Dacal, Robin De Jesús, Carlos Gomez, Mandy Gonzalez, Christopher Jackson, Priscilla Lopez, Olga Merediz, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Seth Stewart.
