The play is based on the novella by Thomas Mann. Rosalie Von Tummler’s life in 1925, Düsseldorf, Germany, is turned upside down when her husband is killed forcing her to begin a new life for herself and her two children. Caught in the upheaval of politics and culture between world wars, Rosalie’s affair with an American jazz musician asks her to risk everything for the happiness she desires.
