Peter Mills Wins Fred Ebb Award

Peter Mills has been named the recipient of the third annual Fred Ebb Award for musical theater songwriting. He will be honored at a private reception on Monday, November 26 at the American Airlines Theater.

The award, which includes a cash prize of $50,000, is named in honor of the late award-winning lyricist and recognizes excellence in musical theater songwriting by a songwriter or songwriting team that has not yet achieved significant commercial success.
The previous recipients are John Bucchino and the team of Steven Lutvak and Robert Freedman.

Mills’ work includes The Pursuit of Persephone, The Rockae, The Alchemists, Iron Curtain, Illyria, The Flood, and The Taxi Cabaret. He is a founder of the Prospect Theater Company.

The selection panel includes Mitchell S. Bernard, Sheldon Harnick, David Loud, Tim Pinckney, Arthur Whitelaw, and Karen Ziemba.
