Matthew Ashford, Jessica Bogart to Headline Ordway’s Sound of Music

Matthew Ashford and Jessica Bogart will play Captain and Maria Von Trapp in the Ordway Center’s production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s beloved musical The Sound of Music, December 11-30. The production will be directed by Wendy Knox, with choreography by Jayme McDaniel and musical direction by Raymond Berg.

The cast will also feature Katie Allen (Liesl), Melissa Hart (Sister Margaretta), Christine Toy Johnson (Elsa), Phil Kilbourne (Max), Joel Liestman (Admiral von Schreiber), Susan Pierson (Mother Abbess), Carol Swarbrick (Sister Berthe), Aaron Young (Rolf), and Monte Wheeler (Herr Zeller).

Ashford’s stage credits include 1776, Into the Woods and Urinetown. He is best known for his work on the daytime dramas Days of Our Lives and General Hospital. Bogart has appeared on Broadway in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, In My Life, Rent, Les Miserables, and Oklahoma!
