Happy Endings

Jason Danieley, Baby Jane Dexter, Darius de Haas, Christine Ebersole, Linda Eder, Melissa Errico, Sam Harris, Capathia Jenkins, Gay Marshall, Eric Millegan, Daniel Reichard, and Mary Wilson help end 2007 with a bang!

2007 goes out with a bang in the nation’s cabarets and clubs. At Feinstein’s at the Loews Regency, club namesake Michael Feinstein is presenting his holiday show, Winter Dreams (through December 29), along with a special program at his weekend late shows entitled By Request. Meanwhile, Linda Eder will perform on New Year’s Eve.

Over at the Café Carlyle, Steve Tyrell continues his engagement through December 31; and Andrea Marcovicci is serving up her new show, Marcovicci Sings Rodgers & Hart (through January 12), which includes some rare treasures from the accomplished songwriting team’s catalogue.

The line-up at Birdland is nothing short of sensational: jazz singer Stacey Kent (December 1-2), The Broadway Boys (December 3), Tony Award winner Christine Ebersole with Billy Stritch (December 5-8), Patrick DeGennaro (December 9), the amazing Darius de Haas doing his tribute to Stevie Wonder (December 10), the ever-energetic Sam Harris (December 16), Broadway favorite Melissa Errico (December 18), and the great Freddy Cole (December 19-23).

Must-see acts at the eclectic Joe’s Pub will include German-born cabaret legend Ute Lemper (December 1), A-list air hostess to the stars Pam Ann (December 1-2), Mike Errico (December 11), Allen Toussaint (December 16), Dana Fuchs (December 19), Issa (December 21-22), and Noche Flamenco featuring Soledad Barrio (December 27-31).

Things are really hopping at the Zipper Factory, where this month’s attractions include Broadway leading man Jason Danieley (December 3), Gay Marshall (December 4, 11, and 18), the off-beat revue Nice Jewish Girls Gone Bad (December 5-24), drag king Murray Hill (December 8, 15, and 31), indie band Eelwax Jesus with special guest Euan Morton (December 9), singer-songwriter Jay Brannan (December 12), Our Lady J in a special tribute to Dolly Parton (December 14), Todd Almond (December 17), a special holiday edition of Don’t Quit Your Night Job with special guests such as Hank Azaria, George Wendt, Alicia Witt, and David Yazbek (December 20), and award-winning band Groovelily in their holiday fable Striking 12 (December 27-31).

At The Metropolitan Room, the many worthy offerings include Tony nominee Liz Callaway’s Between Flights (December 1-2), beloved veteran Charles Cochran (December 5), Marieann Meringolo (December 6-9), Walmartopia star Cheryl Freeman (December 6), Eric Comstock and Barbara Fasano in the aptly-titled A Little Romance (December 9, 16), Broadway star Capathia Jenkins with composer Louis Rosen (December 9, 16), Julian Ovendon (December 10), Steven Brinberg as Simply Barbra (December 12, 19), jazz legend Mark Murphy (December 13-14), daytime diva Eileen Fulton (December 15, 22), multi-MAC Award-winner Baby Jane Dexter (December 15, 22, 29), Jersey Boys star Daniel Reichard (December 18), Christine Pedi (December 26-28), and Jay Rogers and Kristine Zbronik (December 31).

The Laurie Beechman Theatre hosts Ben Rimalower’s Saturday Night Underground (December 1), with special guests Michael Arden, Todd Buonopane, and Shawn Hollenback, singer Rosemary Loar (December 2), performer Ben Rauch (December 4, 8, 10, and 15), singer Jonathan Whitton (December 11), composer Galt McDermot and the New Pulse Jazz Ensemble (December 17), jazz singer Scot Albertson (December 19), and Lisa Asher and Brandon Cutrell (December 31).

Elsewhere around town, Ars Nova‘s events include Nick Reece in The Art of Being Nick (December 12), celebrity sextrologers Starsky + Cox (December 13-15), comedienne Wendy Ho (December 14); and Rent star Anthony Rapp (December 17); Political Idol continues at the Triad (through December 18); and the musical revue Her Song re-opens at the Reprise Room at Dillon’s (beginning December 5).

Outside of the Big Apple, the Royal Room at the Colony Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida welcomes the popular duo of KT Sullivan and Mark Nadler (through December 8) and the vocal group The Four Freshmen (December 13-22). At the Empire Plush Room in San Francisco, highlights include Charlotte Rae (December 1-2), Mary Wilson (December 4-16), Jackie Beat (December 20-22), and Wesla Whitfield and Mike Greensill (December 27-31). Also in the Bay area, Jessica Molaskey and John Pizzarelli check into the Marines Memorial Club (December 9), while down in Los Angeles Sterling’s Upstairs at Vitello’s hosts Bones star Eric Millegan (December 2) and musical theater veteran Asunta Fleming (December 9).
