Enchanted CD, Featuring Songs of Schwartz and Menken, Set for Release

By Brian Scott Lipton • Nov 13, 2007 • New York City
The soundtrack to the Disney film Enchanted, featuring a score by Broadway composer Alan Menken and songs by Menken and lyricist Stephen Schwartz, will be released on Walt Disney Records on Tuesday, November 20.

The film, which uses a mixture of animation and live action, will be released on November 21. It tells the story of a fairytale princess (Amy Adams) who is thrust into the present day by an evil queen (Susan Sarandon), where she meets a handsome lawyer (Patrick Dempsey).

Adams and co-star James Marsden (who plays Prince Edward) sing on the recording, as do county music superstar Carrie Underwood and Jon McLaughlin.

Menken and Schwartz previously collaborated on the films Pocahontas, for which they received the Academy Award, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Menken is currently represented on Broadway by The Little Mermaid, while Schwartz is represented by Wicked.
