Daphne Rubin-Vega to Be Honored at Legends of the Village Benefit

Broadway actress Daphne Rubin-Vega will be honored with the William F. Passannante Award for her contributions to the world of entertainment at Village Care of New York’s 30th Anniversary Legends of The Village benefit, to be held at 6pm on Monday, November 12 at NYU’s Kimmel Center.

The event will also honor actress Phyllis Newman, cabaret singer Joanne Beretta, actor Farley Granger, director Robert Calhoun, actor George Bartenieff, producer Madeline Lee Gilford, and actress/playwright Anna Deavere Smith, among other notables. Tony Award winner LaChanze will provide the entertainment.

Rubin-Vega received Tony Award nominations for her work in Rent, in which she originated the role of Mimi, and Anna in the Tropics. She has also starred on Broadway in The Rocky Horror Show and Les Miserables.
