Tony Awards Administration Committee Announces New Decisions

The Tony Awards Administration Committee met on November 30 to decide the eligibility of nine Broadway productions for the 2007 Tony Awards, which will be presented by the League of American Theatres and Producers and the American Theatre Wing on Sunday, June 10 at Radio City Music Hall.

The following decisions were announced; all other decisions were consistent with the opening night credits

Kiki & Herb Alive on Broadway and Jay Johnson: The Two and Only will both be considered in the Special Theatrical Event category.

Byron Jennings, Lily Rabe and Laila Robins will all be considered in the Featured Actor and Actress in a Play categories for their performances in Heartbreak House.

Michael Arden, Thom Sesma and Lisa Brescia will all be considered in the Lead Actor and Actress in a Musical categories for their performances in The Times They Are A-Changin’.

Patrick Page will be considered in the Lead Actor in a Musical category for his performance in Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

The other shows discussed were Butley, Grey Gardens, Losing Louie, and Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me.

This is the second time the Tony Awards Administration Committee has met this year. They will meet three additional times to discuss the eligibility of shows opening in the 2006-2007 season. The cut-off date for eligibility is May 9 and nominations will be announced on May 15.
