Sherry Vine to Star in Theatre Couture’s Carrie at PS 122

Drag star Sherry Vine will play the title role in Theatre Couture’s production of Carrie, Eric Jackson’s adaptation of the famed Stephen King novel, which will play PS 122, December 2-30. The show, which will open officially on December 9, will be directed by Josh Rosenzweig.

Carrie concerns a high school girl who is tormented at school by her classmates and abused at home by her religious fanatic mother. But Carrie gets her revenge with her ability to move objects with her mind. The novel was filmed in 1976 by Brian DePalma, starring Sissy Spacek, Piper Laurie, John Travolta, William Katt, Amy Irving, and Betty Buckley.

The show’s cast includes Kate Goehring, David Ilku, Keri Meoni, Kathy Searle, Rafi Silver, Danielle Skraastad, Matt Wilkas, and Marnye Young. The creative team includes Basil Twist (visual effects), Tobin Ost (set design), David Moyer (costume design), Paul Hackenmueller (lighting design), and Robert Kaplowitz (original music and sound design).
