Figueroa, Montalban, Narayan, Winther, et al. Set for Centerstage’s The Boys From Syracuse

Charlotte Cohn, Rona Figueroa, Kevin R. Free, Manu Narayan, Paolo Montalban, Charlie Parker, Blair Ross, and Michael Winther will star in the Baltimore theater company Centerstage’s production of Rodgers & Hart’s The Boys from Syracuse, December 8-January 14. The show, which will open officially on December 13, will be directed by David Schweizer and choreographed by Dan Knechtges.

Based on Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors, the musical debuted on Broadway in 1938. It features a book by George Abbott. The plot concerns two pairs of identical twins in ancient Ephesus; the score includes such standards as “This Can’t Be Love,” “Falling in Love Wth Love,” and “Sing for Your Supper.”

The Centerstage production will also feature Laura Lee Anderson, Rosa Curry, Kyle DesChamps, Terry Lavell, John Ramsey, Christopher Sergeeff, Stephen Valahovic, Chris Wells, and Jesssica Wu. The creative team includes Allen Moyer (sets), David Zinn (costumes), Christopher Akerlind (lighting), Ryan Rumery (sound), and Wayne Barker (music direction/orchestrations).

Cohn, who will play Adirana, appeared on Broadway in La Bohème and was seen earlier this year in the A.C.T. production of Happy End. Figueroa, who will play Luciana, starred on Broadway in Miss Saigon and Nine. Free, who will play Dromio of Ephesus, has appeared Off-Broadway in Taking a Chance on Love and Barbara’s Blue Kitchen. Montalban, who will play Antipholus of Ephesus, is best known for playing Prince Charming in the national tour and television film versions of Cinderella.

Narayan, who will play Antipholus of Syracuse, starred on Broadway in Bombay Dreams. Parker, who will play Luce, has been seen regionally in Thoroughly Modern Millie and Once on This Island. Ross, who will play Madame Courtesan, starred as Dorothy Brock on Broadway and in the national tour of 42nd Street. Winther, who will play Dromio of Syracuse, has appeared on Broadway in Mamma Mia! and 1776; he will play New York City’s Metropolitan Room on November 19, 20, 26, and 27.
