Award-winning actor Alvin Epstein will return to Yale Repertory Theatre for its production of Mikhail Bulgakov’s Black Snow, to be performed in an adaptation by Keith Reddin and directed by Evan Yionoulis. The show will run December 1-23 and will open officially on December 7.

In the play, a young writer’s dream rapidly turns into a comic nightmare when the most illustrious theater in Moscow decides to make a play out of his novel and an absurdly autocratic if brilliant artistic director (Epstein) takes charge.

Amir Arison, Katie Barrett, Susan Blommaert, Matthew Boston, Brian Hutchison, David Lapkin, Anthony Manna, Steve Routman, Charles Semine, Adam Stein, and Tamilla Woodard will also appear in the Yale Rep production. The creative team includes Dustin Eshenroder (sets), Rachel Myers (costumes), Stephen Strawbridge (lighting), and David Burdies (sound).

Epstein is a founding member of Yale Rep; Black Snow will mark his 33rd production there. He recently starred Off-Broadway in King Lear, and his numerous other credits include Waiting for Godot, Dynamite Tonite!, Endgame, The Cherry Orchard, and Tuesdays with Morrie. Yionoulis is currently represented Off-Broadway by Bhutan; she has also directed such plays as The Violet Hour, Three Days of Rain, and The People Next Door.
