Rivera and Pierce to Light Broadway Holiday Tree

Chita Rivera and David Hyde Pierce will light the 2005 Broadway Holiday Tree in Duffy Square (Broadway and 46th Street) at 5pm on Wednesday, December 7. The pair will be joined by the cast of the musical Altar Boyz, who will sing “What Christmas Is,” as well as company members from various Broadway and Off-Broadway shows and sixth grade students from The Professional Performing Arts School.

During the ceremony, the Theatre Development Fund and the League of American Theatres and Producers will present a $5,000 gift to a not-for-profit organization in the theater district.

Rivera will return to Broadway later this month in her autobiographical musical Chita Rivera: The Dancer’s Life. Pierce is currently starring in Monty Python’s Spamalot.
