Rita Moreno, Delroy Lindo to Read Sendak Stories at Berkeley Rep

Rita Moreno and Delroy Lindo are among those scheduled to read excerpts from the works of author Maurice Sendak in conjuction with Berkley Rep’s
production of Brundibar and Comedy Under the Bridge. Sendak, who’s designing the production, is the author of such classic children’s books as Where the Wild Things Are and Really Rosie.


Moreno won a Tony Award for her role of Googie Gomez in The Ritz and an Academy Award for her work as Anita in West Side Story; she will kick off the series on Saturday, November 19. Children’s author Thacher Hurd, whose books include Mystery on the Docks and Mama Don’t Allow, will appear on December 10. Lindo, who received a Tony nomination for his performance in August Wilson’s Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, will read on December 17. Each event will begin at 12:30pm with refreshments, followed by the readings at 1pm. Matinee performances will begin at 2pm.
