Broadway is Broadway and country is country; but those who say that “never the twain shall meet” were proven wrong on Saturday, November 12 as a host of other country stars joined some of their Broadway brethren for Broadway Meets Country, a concert held at Rose Hall to benefit The Actors’ Fund of America and the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Here’s a shot of the event’s hosts: Lee Ann Womack and Brian Stokes Mitchell.
Here’s a solo shot of Womack, whom you may know not only for her recordings but also for her Sparkle paper towel commercials.
Among the other country stars who performed in the concert: the great Glen Campbell…
…gorgeous Jamie O’Neal…
…beautiful Julie Roberts…
…sexy Trace Adkins…
…and the smokin’ Billy Currington.
In addition to Stokes, Broadway was represented at the concert by Andrea McArdle, the original star of Annie…
…Marian Seldes, who sang the Loretta Lynn song ” You Ain’t Woman Enough to Take My Man”…
…and married couple Jason Danieley and Marin Mazzie, whose first CD of duets, Opposite You, has just been released.
Last night, at the newish Ritz-Carlton hotel near Battery Park, the eminent playwright Edward Albee, pictured here, was honored by SAGE (Services and Advocacy for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Elders). Also honored were JP Morgan Chase, The New York Community Trust, and Jennifer Hatch.
Among those in attendance at the gala dinner: Marian Seldes (who really got around this past weekend!) and Brian Murray, her co-star in Albee’s The Play About the Baby…
…the ageless Kitty Carlisle Hart, pictured here with English lit professor Sheldon Wigod…
…and two unique women of the theater, Elaine Stritch and Elizabeth I. McCann.
