Latinologues is extending its Broadway run through December 31. The show, which officially opened on October 13, had been scheduled to close on December 4.

The extension is surprising in light of the show’s mixed reviews and relatively weak box office. For the week ending November 6, Latinologues took in $66,897 and played to just 33.7% capacity, a drop of nearly 2.5% from the previous week.

No future tenant has been announced for the Helen Hayes. At one point, the producers of Sarah Jones’ solo show Bridge and Tunnel were said to be eyeing the house, which is the smallest on Broadway with 589 seats.

In Latinologues, performers Rick Najera (who is also the show’s creator), Eugenio Derbez, Rene Lavan, and Shirley Rumierk take on subjects ranging from beauty pageants to immigration as they both embrace and shatter Latino stereotypes. The production is directed by Cheech Marin. Najera was a writer for the TV shows In Living Color and MAD TV.
