Roy Abramsohn, Tony Amendola, James Barbour, Rubén C. González, Eugene Lee, Tess Lina, Ty Mayberry, Jeffrey Nordling, Randy Oglesby, and Morgan Rusler will appear in Robert Schenkkan’s Lewis and Clark Reach the Euphrates at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, December 1- January 22. Directed by Gregory Boyd, the production will open officially on December 11.

In the play, explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark’s attempt to find a water route to the Pacific Ocean erupts into a fantastical journey with time-bending twists and turns, including the charge up San Juan Hill in 1898 and the Vietnam War in 1963. The cast members will play more than 50 roles in the production, which will have set design by Jeff Cowie, costume design by Judith Dolan, lighting design by Howell Binkley, music and sound design by John Gromada, projection design by Marc I. Rosenthal, fight direction by Steve Rankin, and wigs and hair by Carol F. Doran.

Schenkkan won the Pulitzer Prize for The Kentucky Cycle. His other plays include Heaven on Earth and Intermission. Boyd, artistic director of Houston’s Alley Theater, recently directed the Long Wharf Theater production of Travesties. He is also a co-author of the Broadway musical The Civil War.
