Cavenaugh, Chase, Craig, Pasquale, et al. Join Cast of Secret Garden Concert

Broadway stars Matt Cavenaugh, Will Chase, Deborah S. Craig, Ben Magnuson, Jenny Powers, Steven Pasquale, and Shonn Wiley have joined the cast of the upcoming World AIDS day benefit concert performance of the Broadway musical The Secret Garden, to be held at 7pm on Monday, December 5 at the Manhattan Center (311 West 34th Street).

Chase will play Neville Craven, Craig will play Alice, Cavenaugh will play Lieutenant Shaw, Magnuson will play Major Holmes, Powers will play Claire, Pasquale will play Archibald Craven, and Wiley will play Lieutenant Wright in the concert. They join previously announced stars Michael Arden as Dickon, Laura Benanti as Lily, Celia Keenan-Bolger as Martha, David Canary as Ben, Sara Gettelfinger as Rose, and Max Von Essen as Albert. The cast also includes Barbara Rosenblat as Mrs. Medlock, Reshma Shetty as the Ayah, Nehal Joshi as the Fakir, Struan Erlenborn as Colin, and Jaclyn Niedenthal as Mary Lennox. The show will feature a 70-person choir, a 35-piece orchestra, and a children’s choir including performers from Rosie’s Broadway Kids.

Jamie McGonnigal and producers Brad Bauner, Adam Caldwell, Josh Fiedler, Ryan Hill, and Erica Lynn Schwartz are presenting The Secret Garden in association with The Storm Theatre. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Joey DiPaolo AIDS Foundation and Camp TLC (Teens Living with a Challenge). The show will be directed by Stafford Arima, with musical direction by Michael Kosarin and orchestrations by William David Brohn. The production team includes Lauren Helpern (set consultation), Tony Smolenski (sound design), and Traci Klainer (lighting design).

The Secret Garden opened at the St. James Theatre in April 1991 and played 709 performances before closing in January 1993. Based on the beloved novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, the show has music by Lucy Simon, book and lyrics by Marsha Norman. The original Broadway cast featured Mandy Patinkin, Alison Fraser, Howard McGillin, Rebecca Luker, Robert Westenberg, John Cameron Mitchell, and Daisy Eagan, who won a Tony Award for her performance as Mary Lennox.
