Almost, Maine, a new comedy by former Fiddler on the Roof star John Cariani, will begin performances at the Daryl Roth Theatre (101 East 15th Street) on December 15 and will open officially on January 12.

A romantic comedy about the residents of a small town who fall in and out of love at an alarming rate, Almost Maine will be directed by Gabriel Barre and will star Todd Cerveris, Justin Hagan, Miriam Shor, and Finnerty Steeves. The show’s creative team includes James Youmans (sets), Pamela Scofield (costumes), Jeff Croiter (lighting), Brian Ronan (sound design), and Julian Fleisher (original score).

Cariani received a Tony Award nomination for his performance as Motel in Fiddler and subsequently played Speed in this summer’s Shakespeare in the Park production of Two Gentlemen of Verona. He was also a contributing writer to the musical The Audience, presented last season by the Transport Group.

Barre’s directorial credits include the Off-Broadway musicals The Wild Party, John & Jen, and Summer of ’42, as well as the national touring production of Cinderella.
