Caldwell, Glynn, Mayes, Plunkett, Powell Set for LPTW’s Short Play Festival

Zoe Caldwell, Carlin Glynn, Sally Mayes, Maryann Plunkett, and Linda Powell will participate in The League of Professional Theatre Women’s Short Play Festival at 7pm on Monday, November 21 at the JCC of the Upper West Side (334 Amsterdam Avenue). Proceeds from the event will benefit the League’s educational and professional programs.

Produced by Joan D. Firestone and Pam Koslow, the event will showcase eight short plays written by League members: Zdenka Becker’s Odysseus Never Returned, Sheilah Rae and Michele Brourman’s What Goes Around, P.J. Gibson’s Jesse, Deborah Zoe Lauferby’s 63 Years, Carol Hall’s The River Jordan Lamp, Joan Vail Thorne’s Vanity of the Vanities, Lee Hunkins’ Blood Cord, and Deborah Savadge’s Just Dessert. Tony Award winner Natasha Katz will be the festival’s lighting designer.

Caldwell is the winner of four Tony Awards for Slapstick Tragedy, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, Medea, and Master Class. Glynn won a Tony for her performance as Miss Mona in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Mayes’s credits include She Loves Me, Urban Cowboy, Welcome to the Club, and Pete ‘n Keely. Plunkett won a Tony for Me and My Girl and was recently seen Off-Broadway in Rodney’s Wife. Powell was seen in the recent Broadway revival of On Golden Pond and in Wilder, Wilder, Wilder.
