Blythe Danner to Be Honored by Williamstown Theater Festival

Tony Award-winning actress Blythe Danner will be honored by the Williamstown Theater Festival at a gala event titled Blythe’s Spirit on Monday, December 5 at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers (811 Seventh Avenue).

Spamalot star Hank Azaria — who co-stars with Danner in the Showtime series Huff — and playwright-television producer Tom Fontana (Oz) will emcee the event, which will include entertainment by Roger Rees, Dick Cavett, and Carol Woods.

Danner has appeared in 27 productions at Williamstown, including the famed 1994 staging of The Seagull that co-starred her daughter, Academy Award winner Gwyneth Paltrow. She won a Tony for her performance in Butterflies are Free and received nominations for he work in A Streetcar Named Desire, Betrayal, and Follies. Danner’s many film credits include 1776, The Prince of Tides, and The Great Santini. She made Emmy Award history this year for receiving three separate nominations for the TV film Back When We Were Grownups, her recurring role on Will & Grace, and her co-starring role on Huff, for which she won the statuette.

The December 5 gala will begin at 6:30pm with a cocktail reception, followed by dinner at 7:30pm. Tickets range in price from $350 upwards and can be purchased by calling 413-458-3200.
