Vallejo Gantner Named New Artistic Director of P.S. 122

Gantner, who was born in Melbourne, has served as artistic associate for the Melbourne Festival in addition to having worked as a theater director and producer in Asia and the United States. He is on the board a number of Australian theater companies; he is also a partner in the Mountain Goat Beer brewery and a Melbourne bar called Double Happiness. The Dublin Fringe Festival, under Ganter’s direction since 2002, has become the fastest growing cultural event in Ireland.

“It is a considerable honor to be asked to become the artistic director of P.S. 122 — an institution that defies institutionalization and which has played such an extraordinary role in New York over the last two decades,” Gantner stated. “I am looking forward to working with the team there and the community of artists and audiences in New York, so that P.S. 122 will continue to be a place where extraordinary ideas, visions and possibilities can be explored.”
