Naming of Arthur Miller Theatre at University of Michigan to be Celebrated in NYC Event

A Broadway celebration of the naming of the world’s only Arthur Miller Theatre at the legendary playwright’s alma mater, the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, will take place at the Richard Rodgers Theatre (226 West 46th Street) on Monday, November 15 at 8 pm.

The event will feature performances by an array of University of Michigan graduates who have gone on to success on Broadway, including Gavin Creel (La Cage aux Folles), Hunter Foster (The Producers), Jennifer Laura Thompson (Wicked), Lisa Datz (The Full Monty), and Barrett Foa (Avenue Q). There will also be musical contributions by U-M alums Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party) and Jeff Marx (Avenue Q).

Michigan on Broadway: A Tribute to Arthur Miller, is being produced by Jeffrey Seller, a U-M graduate and the Tony Award-winning producer of Rent and Avenue Q.The celebration will be hosted by Robert Nederlander, another U-M alumnus and former regent of the university. Among the other U-M graduates scheduled to participate are director Jack O’Brien (Hairspray, The Full Monty), jazz pianist Geri Allen, violinist Xiang Gao, and pianist Howard Watkins.

According to Jeffrey Seller, “When people talk about Michigan, they usually think about football or the great schools of law and business. After they see our amazing show on Monday, they’ll also think about Michigan as one
