Sondheim, Cook, Kushner, Cruz, Lane, Broderick, and Others Set for New York Times Talks

As part of The New York Times‘s third annual Arts & Leisure Weekend — January 9-11, 2004 — the newspaper will host “TimesTalks: Special Edition,” a series of events in which major figures in the arts will participate in public discussions with New York Times reporters, critics, and editors.

Several of the scheduled “TimesTalks” will involve theater artists, as follows: Lea DeLaria and Anthony Rapp (plus David Daniels and Caushun) in “Singing Out,” moderated by chief music critic Anthony Tommasini (Saturday, January 10 at 10am); Barbara Cook and Stephen Sondheim in “Celebrating Sondheim,” moderated by associate editor John Darnton (Saturday, January 10 at 6pm); Nilo Cruz, Tony Kushner, Neil LaBute, and Terrence McNally in “Masters of the Stage,” moderated by culture reporter Mel Gussow (Sunday, January 11 at 12pm); and Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane in “The Producers Stage Two,” moderated by cabaret critic Stephen Holden (Sunday, January 11 at 8pm). All events will take place at the CUNY Graduate Center, located on Fifth Avenue at 34th Street.
