The Commons of Pensacola, starring Sarah Jessica Parker (Sex and the City) and Blythe Danner (Nice Work If You Can Get It), will extend performances through January 26 at Manhattan Theatre Club's New York City Center – Stage I. The world premiere play, by actress Amanda Peet (Barefoot in the Park), will begin performances on October 22 with an opening scheduled for a November 21 opening. Tickets for the extension will go on sale Friday, October 4.

Directed by Manhattan Theater Club's Artistic Director Lynne Meadow, Peet's dark comedy follows Judith (Danner) as she is forced to leave her luxurious New York lifestyle and move into a one-bedroom condo in Pensacola, Florida. When her daughter Becca (Parker) pays her a visit, Judith's life is thrown for a loop when everyone's motives are questioned.

The play also marks the reunion of Danner and Parker, who previously starred together in Manhattan Theatre Club's hit production of A.R. Gurney's Sylvia in 1995.
