Fun Home at The Public Theater: A First Look

Fun Home, a new musical with music by Jeanine Tesori (Caroline, or Change) and book and lyrics by Lisa Kron (In the Wake), opens on Tuesday, October 22. It stars Griffin Birney as Christian Bechdel, Michael Cerveris as Bruce Bechdel, Roberta Colindrez as Joan, Noah Hinsdale as John Bechdel, Judy Kuhn as Helen, Sydney Lucas as Small Alison, Beth Malone as Alison, Joel Perez as Roy, and Alexandra Socha as Medium Alison.

Based on a graphic novel by Alison Bechdel, the show moves between past and present and relives Alison's unique childhood — due to her father, a one-of-a-kind man whose temperament and secrets defined her family and her life. Sam Gold (Picnic) directs.
