Fitzgerald (The Merchant of Venice, Finian's Rainbow, Young Frankenstein) will join the Broadway cast of Chicago in the role of Amos Hart, Roxie's pathetically soft-hearted husband who croons the iconic number "Mister Cellophane." Fitzgerald takes over for Todd Buonopane, who plays his final Broadway performance on Sunday, October 27, before rejoining the National Touring company on Tuesday, November 5.

In addition to his numerous stage credits, Fitzgerald appeared on the big screen earlier this year opposite Kristen Wiig and Annette Bening in Girl Most Likely. His other film credits include Larry Gaye: Renegade Male Flight Attendant, Personal Velocity: Three Portraits, and Dedication. He has also appeared as a series regular on the WB series Twins, on NBC's Next Caller, and on PBS' The Electric Company.

Featuring classic tunes by John Kander and Fred Ebb, Chicago tells the story of Roxie Hart, a nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media, and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer to transform her crime into a barrage of sensational headlines. Fitzgerald will join a cast that currently features Bianca Marroquin as Roxie Hart, Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly, Ryan Silverman as Billy Flynn, and Roz Ryan as Matron "Mama" Morton.
