Steven Boyer, Richard Easton to Be Charter Members of MTC’s Explorers Club

Obie Award winner Steven Boyer and Tony Award winner Richard Easton are the first two cast members who have been announced for Manhattan Theatre Club’s production of The Explorers Club. Marc Bruni will direct this world premiere comedy by Tony nominee Nell Benjamin at New York City Center Stage I, to begin previews May 14, 2013 in advance of a June 4 opening.

The play is set in London in 1879, and involves a prestigious club faced with letting in a woman for the first time in its history.

Easton, who will play Professor Sloane, is also appearing this season in MTC’s production of Golden Age and won his Tony for his performance in The Invention of Love. Boyer, who will play Professor Walling, is currently appearing Off-Broadway in Modern Terrorism, and received a 2012 Obie Award for his performance in Hand to God.
