Johnny Rabe to Be Broadway’s Ralphie in A Christmas Story

12-year-old Chicago native Johnny Rabe will star as Ralphie in the Broadway production of A Christmas Story, The Musical, to play the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre from November 5 to December 30.

Rabe, who will be making his Broadway debut, appeared in the 2011 national tour of A Christmas Story in a different part. Previous theater credits include roles in The Music Man, The Wizard of Oz, Les Miserables, Beauty and the Beast, and Oliver. At certain performances, Joe West will take on the role of Ralphie.

As previously reported, the production will co-star Zac Ballard, John Bolton, Erin Dilly, Eddie Korbich, Dan Lauria and Caroline O’Connor.

The ensemble will include Tia Altinay, John Babbo, Charissa Bertels, Grace Capeless, Zoe Considine, Andrew Cristi, Mathew deGuzman, Thay Flloyd, George Franklin, Nick Gaswirth, Mark Ledbetter, Jose Luaces, Jack Mastrianni, Mara Newbery, Lindsay O’Neil, Sarah Min-Kyung Park, J.D. Rodriguez, Analise Scarpaci, Lara Seibert, Jeremy Shinder, Luke Spring, Beatrice Tulchin, and Kirsten Wyatt.

Based on the writings of humorist Jean Shepherd and the popular 1983 film A Christmas Story, the Broadway production features a score by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, with a book by Joseph Robinette, direction by John Rando, and choreography by Warren Carlyle.

Scenic design will be by Walt Spangler, costume design by Elizabeth Hope Clancy, lighting design by Howell Binkley, sound design by Ken Travis, wig design by Tom Watson, orchestrations by Tony nominee Larry Blan, music direction and supervision by Ian Eisendrath, dance music arrangements by Glen Kelly, and vocal arrangements by Justin Paul.
