Broadway’s The Phantom of the Opera to Celebrate 25th Anniversary on January 26

The Broadway production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera will mark its 25th Anniversary on Saturday, January 26 with a special gala performance at the Majestic Theatre. The production is directed by Harold Prince.

In January 2006, The Phantom of the Opera became the longest-running show in Broadway history. It played its 10,000th performance in February 2012, and has been seen be over 15 million people to date.

Based on the classic novel by Gaston Leroux, The Phantom of the Opera features music by Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart (with additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe), and book by Richard Stilgoe and Lloyd Webber. It is choreographed by Gillian Lynne, and features production design by the late Maria Bjornson, lighting by Andrew Bridge, and sound by Martin Levan.
