Love didn’t turn away!

Broadway favorites Audra McDonald and Will Swenson — who met while working on Roundabout Theatre Company’s 2007 production of 110 in the Shade — tied the knot on Saturday, October 6 in a ceremony at their home in Croton-on-Hudson, New York.

“Well that was just the best day ever,” McDonald, who wore a dress designed by her Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess costumer Esosa, Tweeted early Sunday morning.

The couple became engaged over this past New Year’s while vacationing in Puerto Rico. Together they have three children, which they’ve affectionately dubbed the “wee posse of three,” McDonald’s 11-year-old daughter Zoe Madeline, and Swenson’s sons Bridger (also 11) and Sawyer (age 8).

Swenson is currently in rehearsals for Manhattan Theatre Club’s production of the new musical Murder Ballad. He has also appeared in Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Hair, and Rock of Ages.

McDonald recently won her fifth Tony Award for her performance in The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess. She has also been honored for her work in A Raisin in the Sun, Master Class, Ragtime, and Carousel. Her TV credits include the role of Dr. Naomi Bennett on Private Practice and the role of Grace Farrell in the remake of Annie.

We’re sending wishes of love and congratulations to the happy couple and are eagerly anticipating the next time they’ll share the stage.
