It was definitely fall weather, but it might has well have been spring when The New York Pops opened their season on Friday, October 12 at Carnegie Hall with Some Enchanted Evening: The Music of Rodgers and Hammerstein.

For the event, the Pops, under the direction of musical director and conductor Steven Reineke, were joined by Tony Award winner Paulo Szot, Tony Award nominee Kelli O’Hara, Broadway star Aaron Lazar, Essential Voices USA under the direction of Judith Clurman, and members of New York Theatre Ballet.

The concert featured selections from Carousel, Cinderella, The King and I, Oklahoma!, State Fair, The Sound of Music, and South Pacific. Highlights included “People Will Say We’re in Love,” “Soliloquy,” “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” “This Nearly Was Mine,” “We Kiss in a Shadw,” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain.”

The New York Pops season continues on Friday, November 9 with By Special Request: An Evening With The Orchestra.
