Robert Lopez to Be Honored at November 7 Suites by Sondheim Benefit

Tony Award winner Robert Lopez will receive the Award of Excellence at the Philippine Development Foundation’s benefit concert, PhilDev Celebrates Broadway: Suites by Sondheim, to be held at Alice Tully Hall on Monday, November 7 at 7:30pm.


Victor Lirio will direct the concert, which will be devoted to the work of Stephen Sondheim. It will feature over 50 performers, including Lea Salonga, T.V. Carpio, and Jose Llana, with music direction by Tom Myron.


Lopez co-wrote the Tony Award-winning musical The Book of Mormon, at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre, and Avenue Q, now at New World Stages.

With his wife, Kristen Anderson-Lopez, he also wrote new songs for the Disney feature Winnie the Pooh and the Disney theme park show Finding Nemo. He has also contributed to the TV series Phineas and Ferb and The Simpsons.
