On Thursday, October 27, the Broadway production of David Henry Hwang’s Chinglish opened at the Longacre Theatre starring Jennifer Lim, Angela Lin, Christine Lin, Stephen Pucci, Gary Wilmes, Johnny Wu, and Larry Lei Zhang. Leigh Silverman directed the production.
Opening night guests included Jim Dale, Andre De Shields, Raul Esparza, Michael Feinstein, Elliot Goldenthal, Zeljko Ivanek, Ang Lee, J. Elaine Marcos, Donna McKechnie, Austin Pendleton, David Hyde Pierce, Julie Taymor, Richard Thomas, and BD Wong.
The work concerns an American businessman who travels to China hoping to make an important deal and finds himself enmeshed in a system more complex than he ever imagined.
