Mario Fratti will be the special guest at a post-performance discussion entitled “Adapting Fellini to the Stage,” to be held following the Saturday, November 5 matinee performance of La Strada, at TBG Theater.

Fratti is perhaps best known for his adaptation of Fellini’s film 8 ½, into the Broadway musical Nine. The discussion will also feature the directors and cast of La Strada, a Spanish-language adaptation of Federico Fellini’s 1954 Italian film.

Presented by the New York-based Spanish theater company, La Strada Company, the work features an adaptation by Gerard Vazquez. It centers on the street entertainer Zampano who offers money to a poor woman in exchange for her daughter Gelsomina, a young woman whose innocence borders on mental retardation. Together they set out on a journey through several villages, eventually joining a traveling circus.

The cast includes Nanda Abella, Israel Ruiz, Luis Carlos de La Lombana, Winston Estevez, Adela Maria Bolet and Jennifer Harder. The production is co-directed by Rene Buch and Jorge Merced.

The talkback is being presented in partnership with TeatroStageFest, the Latino International Theater Festival of New York.
