Julian Elia to Play Title Role in Broadway’s Billy Elliot

13-year-old Julian Elia will be the sixteenth young actor to play the title role in the Broadway production of Billy Elliot the Musical, at the Imperial Theatre. He replaces current Billy Giuseppe Bausilio, who will play his final performance on the evening of Sunday, November 6.

Based on the 2000 film of the same name, the show tells the tale of a young boy with a dream of being a dancer. The musical features music by Elton John, book and lyrics by Lee Hall, direction by Stephen Daldry, and choreography by Peter Darling.

Elia performed in the Toronto production of Billy Elliot. He has been training since the age of six, and dances competitively in Jazz, Tap, Acro, Hip Hop and Contemporary. He also co-hosts the Gemini Award-nominated television series Are We There Yet? World Adventures, and has a recurring role on the upcoming Canadian television series The Yard.

He joins Tade Biesinger, Myles Erlick, Joseph Harrington, and Peter Mazurowski who all rotate in the role of Billy, with the Broadway cast also currently starring Emily Skinner (Mrs. Wilkinson), Daniel Jenkins (Dad), Katherine McGrath (Grandma), and Patrick Mulvey (Tony), with Jack Broderick and Cameron Clifford alternating in the role of Michael.
