Dianne Wiest to Star in HBO’s The Corrections

Dianne Wiest will star in HBO’s adaptation of Jonathan Franzen’s best-seller The Corrections, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The publication reports that the potential series, about an elderly Midwestern couple and their three children, will be co-written by Noah Baumbach, who is also expected to direct the pilot. Chris Cooper is in negotiations to play Wiest’s husband.
Wiest will soon be seen at Classic Stage Company in The Cherry Orchard, and has starred there in The Forest and The Seagull. Her many other theater credits include All My Sons, Salome, Othello, In the Summer House, Third, Memory House, and The Art of Dining.
She won two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress for Hannah and Her Sisters and Bullets Over Broadway, and is currently on the big screen in The Big Year. She received an Emmy Award for Avonlea and for In Treatment and a nomination for The Simple Life of Noah Dearborn.
