DC-7, The Roberto Clemente Story Set for BORIMIX: Puerto Rico Fest

The Society of the Educational Arts will present the world premiere of DC-7, The Roberto Clemente Story, a musical about the life and legacy of the Baseball Hall of Famer and humanitarian during its 6th Annual BORIMIX: Puerto Rico Fest. Luis Caballero will direct the limited engagement at Teatro SEA, November 11-December 4.

DC-7 traces the three most influential characters in Clemente’s life as they meet at his funeral and reminisce. Their stories launch the audience back to Clemente’s early years in Puerto Rico, his time with the Montreal Royals and his 18-year tenure with the Pirates. The musical also depicts the era of the Civil Rights Movement and how it affected Clemente’s life as a Black Hispanic.

The production stars Modesto Lacén (Clemente), Dr. Manuel A. Morán (Ramiro Martinez), Josean Ortiz (Martino), and Lorraine Velez (Vera). Also featured are Shawn Beck-Gifford, Anthony Coto, María del Mar González, Johanna Rodríguez, Xiomara Rodríguez and Fidel Vicioso.

The design team includes Luis Salgado (choreography and musical staging), Harold Gutiérrez (musical direction and arrangements) and Jose López (set design).
