Charlotte Allam, Amerjit Deu, et al. Set for Burmese Days Off-Broadway

Casting has been announced for the aya theatre company’s production of George Orwell’s Burmese Days, to run November 9-December 4 at 59E59 Theaters as part of the Brits Off-Broadway Festival.


Ryan Kiggel, who has adapted the novel for the stage, will direct the production, which opens officially on November 16.

The piece looks at how love, friendship and morality are tested for a group of people who are living with the bitter realities of life in colonial Burma.

The company will feature Charlotte Allam, Amerjit Deu, Ryan Kiggell, Zak Shukor, Elisa Terren, and Jamie Zubairi.

The creative team will include George Moustakas (set and costumes), Anna Sbokou (lighting) and Helen Atkinson (sound).
