Anne Hathaway, Sam Waterston to Join November 21 Public Forum Panel

Stage and screen star Anne Hathaway will host the November 21 panel, “Does Culture Make Us Who We Are?” presented by the Public Theater as part of its Public Forum series of lectures, debates, and conversations.

The panel is being offered in conjunction with the theater’s production of King Lear. Sam Waterston, who plays the title role in the production, has also been added to the panel, and will join the previously reported Public Theater Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; New York Times columnist David Brooks; Dr. Mary Schmidt Campbell, the Dean of the Tisch School of the Arts and the Vice-Chair of the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities; and Damian Woetzel, former principal dancer at New York City Ballet and the new Director of the Aspen Institute Arts Program.

Public Forum events will also include “The Legacy of Steve Jobs,” a discussion with Mike Daisey, the creator and performer of the current Public production of The Agony and The Ecstasy of Steve Jobs; NPR’s Robert Krulwich; and “Fake Steve Jobs” creator Dan Lyons. Jeremy McCarter will host.

Also as previously reported, on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, Stephen Sondheim and Tony Kushner will mark the publication of the second volume of Sondheim’s memoir and lyric anthology, Look, I Made a Hat, with a conversation that focuses on the shows covered in the new book, including Sunday in the Park with George, Assassins, and more. Rocco Landesman, the Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, will host the event.
