Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark Actor Kevin Aubin Injured During Onstage Accident

Kevin Aubin, a cast member in the Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, which is set to begin previews at Foxwoods Theatre on November 14, was injured last week in an onstage accident, according to published reports.

Aubin, who is one of several performers who serves as a stunt double for Spider-Man (played by Reeve Carney), broke both wrists during a demonstration of one of the show’s flying stunts in front of a small audience of industry insiders. The New York Times reports that production spokesperson Rick Miramontez claims that Aubin will be back with the show next week.

The musical features music and lyrics by Bono and The Edge of the band U2, and a book by director Julie Taymor and Glen Berger. Drawing from more than 40 years of Marvel comic books for inspiration, the show spins a new take on the mythic tale of Peter Parker, a teenager whose unremarkable life in Queens is turned upside-down when he’s bitten by a genetically-altered spider and wakes up the next morning clinging to the ceiling.
