Robin Williams to Star on Broadway in Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo

Oscar, Emmy and Grammy Award-winning actor Robin Williams will star in the Broadway production of Rajiv Joseph's Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, to begin previews at a theater to be announced on March 10, 2011 with an opening on March 31. Moises Kaufman will direct.

This darkly comic tale is narrated by a tiger held captive in the Baghdad Zoo, and follows the intertwined lives of two American marines and one Iraqi gardener as they search through the rubble of war for friendship, redemption and a toilet seat made of gold.

Williams has appeared on the New York stage in Waiting for Godot, Robin Williams: Live on Broadway, and his Weapons of Self Destruction solo show . He received the Academy Award for Good Will Hunting, and his many other films include Dead Poets Society, Mrs Doubtfire, Awakenings, Hook, The Fisher King, Patch Adams, Happy Feet, and Night at the Museum.

Joseph's play was a finalist for the 2010 Pulitzer Prize. His other works include Animals Out of Paper, Huck & Holden, All This Intimacy, and The Leopard and the Fox.
