PHOTO FLASH: Tony Shalhoub, Brooke Adams Help Honor Robert Brustein at Abingdon Gala

Stage and screen star Tony Shalhoub and wife, actress Brooke Adams were on hand to help honor Robert Brustein at the Abingdon Theatre Company’s fund-raising gala, Abingdon Plays to Win, which was held at Bridgewaters in downtown Manhattan, on Monday, October 18.

A noted playwright, author, and scholar, Brustein is also the founding director of both the Yale Repertory and American Repertory Theatres, where he supervised over 200 productions. He is currently Senior Research Fellow at Harvard and Distinguished Professor of Theatre at Suffolk University. Abingdon Theatre Company produced his play The English Channel in 2008.

Additional guests at the gala included director and librettist James Lapine; Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist and playwright Jules Feiffer, jazz musicians The Daniel Bennett Group, actress Lori Gardner; playwright Reggie Cheong-Leen; and directors Brian Tom O’Connor and Daniela Varon.
