Joe Iconis, Adam Rapp, and John Patrick Shanley are all set to take part in Preview of the Arts 2011, a three-day series of panel discussions, performances and screenings to be offered at Joe’s Pub.

Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Shanley will be featured in an interview on November 5 at 9:30pm. Howard Sherman, executive director of the American Theatre Wing, will moderate the conversation with the writer of such plays as Doubt, Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, Defiance and Sailor’s Song and such screenplays as Joe Versus the Volcano and his Academy Award-winning Moonstruck.

On November 6 at 9:30pm, Lorinda Lisitza, Lauren Marcus, A.J. Shively and Jason “SweetTooth” Williams will perform a revised version of Joe Iconis’ ReWrite, a piece that debuted in 2008 and is a trio of interconnected mini-musicals. John Simpkins will direct the performance, which will have music direction by Robert Rokicki.

Adam Rapp will discuss his first play Ghosts in the Cottonwoods, which will also be offered in a staged reading by The Amoralists on November 7 at 7pm. Featuring William Apps, James Kautz, Nick Lawson, Sarah Lemp, Mandy Nicole Moore and Matthew Pilieci, the play focuses on a single mother and her younger son await the arrival of the older son, who has broken out of prison. The reading will precede the company’s fully staged version of the piece, to be presented at Theatre 80 St. Marks, November 11 – December 6.

Other offerings in Preview of the Arts 2011 will include a presentation of and panel discussion about Tim O’Brien’s The Things They Carried (November 5, 7pm) and two screenings highlighting upcoming programming at the Museum of the Moving Image.
