Brent Barrett, Leigh Zimmerman to Rejoin Broadway’s Chicago

Olivier Award nominee Leigh Zimmerman will take over the role of Velma Kelly in the Broadway production of Chicago, at the Ambassador Theatre, beginning Friday, October 8, while Brent Barrett will return to the role of Billy Flynn on October 11. The cast will also include Charlotte d’Amboise, Raymond Bokhour, and Roz Ryan.

Zimmerman originated the role of Go-To-Hell Kitty as part of the original Broadway revival cast in 1996. She then went on to play Velma Kelly in London’s West End in 2001 and 2009. Her other Broadway credits include The Will Rogers Follies, Crazy for You, and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. In London, she earned a 2004 Olivier Award nomination for her performance as Ulla in The Producers, and she also played the role in the show’s Las Vegas production.

Barrett’s many stage credits include Annie Get Your Gun, Grand Hotel, Phantom of the Opera, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Chicago has been directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Ann Reinking. The creative team includes John Lee Beatty (scenic design), William Ivey Long (costume design), Ken Billington (lighting design), and Scott Lehrer (sound design).
