Sean Hayes, Kristin Chenoweth to Star in Broadway Promises, Promises

Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth will star in a Broadway revival of the musical Promises, Promises at the Broadway Theatre, beginning March 28, 2010, with an opening set for April 25. Tony and Emmy winner Rob Ashford will direct and choreograph.

The show features a book by Neil Simon, lyrics by Hal David, and music by Burt Bacharach. Based on the 1960 film, The Apartment, the musical centers on Chuck Baxter (Hayes), a bachelor who lends his apartment out to the executives at the company he works for, to use for their extramarital affairs. Things become slightly complicated when Fran Kubelik (Chenoweth), the object of Chuck’s affection, becomes the mistress of one of his executives.

Hayes made his New York stage debut in City Center Encores’ Damn Yankees, and is best known for his Emmy-winning role of Jack on Will & Grace. Chenoweth won a Tony for her performance in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and was Tony-nominated for Wicked. She won an Emmy Award for her performance in ABC’s Pushing Daisies.
