The Public Theater has announced selections for its 2009-2010 Public LAB season, which will kick off with the world premiere of writer/performer Roger Guenveur Smith’s Juan and John, December 1-20, with an opening on December 13. Set in 1965, the piece is a new work work inspired by ancient themes: rage, retribution, and redemption. It will feature sound and video by Marc Anthony Thompson.

The LAB season will also feature the world premiere of Neighbors, by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, directed by Niegel Smith, February 16-March 7, 2010. The piece centers around Richard Patterson, whose reputation, family, and comfortably progressive lifestyle is threatened by the family of black actors that has moved in next door.
