Rod Gilfry to Star in Théâtre du Châtelet’s Sound of Music

Rod Gilfry, who is currently starring in the national tour of South Pacific, will play Captain Georg von Trapp in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music, at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, France, December 6-January 3. Emilio Sagi will direct, with musical direction by Kevin Farrell.

The role of Maria will be shared by Sylvia Schwartz, Julie Fuchs, and Christine Arand, who will alternate in the role. The cast will also include Kim Criswell (Mother Abbess), Christine Arand (Elsa Schraeder), Laurent Alvaro (Max Detweiler), James McOran-Campbell (Rolf Gruber), and Carin Gilfry (Liesl Von Trapp).

The production will feature choreography by Sarah Miles, design by Daniel Bianco, and costumes by Jesús Ruiz. It will be presented in English.

As previously announced, Gilfry will be sharing the lead role of South Pacific‘s Emile de Becque in the show’s national tour. David Pittsinger will be playing the role during the show’s Chicago engagement, while a third actor not yet named will also play Emile during certain engagements of the tour.
