Mike Nichols to Receive AFI Lifetime Achievement Award

Academy Award-winning director Mike Nichols has been chosen to receive the American Film Institute’s annual Lifetime Achievement Award.

Nichols has won seven Tony Awards for directing Barefoot in the Park, The Odd Couple, Plaza Suite, Luv, The Prisoner of Second Avenue, The Real Thing, and Monty Python’s Spamalot, and one for producing Annie. His most recent Broadway credit was directing the revival of Clifford Odets’ The Country Girl.

Nichols’s film and television work includes The Graduate,Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Carnal Knowledge, Angels in America, The Birdcage, Wit, and Charlie Wilson’s War.
