Tony and Emmy Award winner Mandy Patinkin will appear on the CBS drama Three Rivers, according to a report in the Associated Press.

He will play an aspiring organ donor, a role with personal significance for the actor who received corneal implants, donated by the families of a 13-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy, to correct a disease that distorts the shape of the cornea and severely impairs vision.

Patinkin won a Tony for his role in Evita, and his additional Broadway credits include Sunday in the Park With George, The Wild Party, Falsettos, Mamaloshen, and The Secret Garden. He received an Emmy Award for his work in Chicago Hope, and his additional film and television credits include Criminal Minds, Yentl, The Princess Bride and Dick Tracy.

As previously announced, Patinkin will star in Rinne Groff's Compulsion at Yale Repertory Theatre, to run January 29 - February 28. He will also receive the Prince Rainier III Award for his outstanding contribution to the arts at the Princess Grace Awards Gala, on October 21.
